Our school's Collective Worship is a daily, joyful, and sacred experience, a beacon of light that illuminates our community. We gather to give thanks, celebrate God's presence, and receive wisdom and inspiration, guided by the teachings of Christ. This act of worship, led by teachers and local church visitors, is not just a moment in our day; it's a thread woven through the lives of our children and staff, a testament to our faith.
In line with Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven," our Collective Worship aims to:
Develop a strong sense of connection and belonging within our school family, shining together in unity and faith as we place our hope in the Lord.
Engage in personal reflection, self-awareness, and spiritual growth, allowing for transformational change that empowers us, strengthened by God's love, so that our lives reflect his glory.
Seek inspiration and wisdom to live life in its fullness, as promised in John 10:10, embracing the abundant life God offers to those who trust in Him, and thus, let our light shine.
Appreciate and celebrate the beauty and mystery of creation, recognising that all human achievement, within and beyond our school, is a gift from God, whose handiwork we see in the world around us, and to reflect that light in our own actions.
Nourish and deepen the faith of believers, uplifting each other as we renew our strength in the Lord’s presence, allowing our collective light to grow brighter.
Reflect on how scripture offers comfort, encouragement, and inspiration, illustrating God’s love, faithfulness, and the transformative power of faith that enables us to be a reflection of his light.
Actively engage through reflection, prayer, and songs of praise, lifting our spirits and hearts in worship, trusting that in His strength, we will rise, so that our collective light can be seen.
This approach creates a space for all to grow spiritually, building a community where everyone can thrive in faith and understanding, letting our collective light shine for all to see.
Prayer Spaces
This academic year, we have worked in partnership with Reverend Jacqui, at All Saints Church, to plan and deliver two Prayer Space events. The first of which was a Christmas Prayer Space morning, for Owl Class children. More recently, the whole school enjoyed an Easter themed Prayer Space morning, which culminated in an Easter Service at the Church.
There were four different Easter themed activities: Mrs Trigg-Hayes and Reverend Jacqui taught the children about friendship and the events of The Last Super. They each made a special person out of a pipe cleaner, shared bread and thought about the events of the Easter story. Mrs Woollard taught the children about Palm Sunday and being thankful. The children then wrote prayers on palm leaves for the things which they were thankful for. Mrs Cottey taught the children about carrying the cross and the children wrote any worries they had onto a paper cross to form part of a larger display. Mr Forster taught the children about Jesus’ trial being unfair. The children were encouraged to think of things that they thought were unfair and write these onto a strip of paper. These strips were then made into paper chains for part of our display.
These activities were followed by a special Easter Service in All Saints Church. Every class shared something special: Robins treated us to a spring song, Doves confidently retold the events of The Easter Story, Kingfishers wowed us with a performance of Lord of the Dance (accompanied by Mr Forster on the guitar!) and Owls encouraged us to reflect through the power of their poems and prayers.
It was a truly wonderful morning and we are very thankful to Reverend Jacqui for her time in working with us to plan and lead this special event for our community.
